Lake City Arts Fest Gears Up for its third event on August 24th

(PLATTSBURGH, NY - Monday July 1st 2024) - The highly anticipated Lake City Arts Fest is set to captivate audiences in Plattsburgh, NY, on August 24th, 2024. This annual event brings together a diverse array of talented artists and musicians for a day-long celebration of creativity and culture. Head to Downtown Plattsburgh where the event will be staged at the Betty Little Arts Park, The Strand Center of the Arts front lawn, and Margaret Street from 12:00PM to 6:30PM.

 

The Lake City Arts Fest is a testament to our city's commitment to fostering the arts, promoting local talent and exposing the community to new forms of art. Drawing from the rich artistic community in and around Plattsburgh, this year's festival promises to be the biggest and most vibrant yet. Visitors can expect an inspiring and immersive experience that will leave them with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for the arts.

 

Musical Guests

This year’s musical guests include local talents such as Instant Narwhal, regional acts from the nearby Adirondacks like Kiel Love and Bluebird and Albany-based act Joe Mansman & the Midnight Revival Band. Stay tuned for more acts to come!

 

Artists and Exhibitions

The Lake City Arts Fest showcases an eclectic mix of visual arts, with over 20 local and regional artists displaying their work along Brinkerhoff and Margaret Streets. Visitors can explore an extensive range of mediums, including paintings, woodworking, pottery, photography, and more. The vibrant and diverse artworks promise to delight art enthusiasts and collectors alike.

 

Programming Highlights

The festival boasts an exciting lineup of programming to engage attendees of all ages. From live demonstrations to a Chalk Art Festival themed “Platts-bird”, visitors will have the opportunity to witness the artistic process up close and perhaps even try their hand at creating their own masterpiece. Event attendees are invited to attend the “You Matter” mural dedication and a meet and greet with artists who created the sculptures in the Betty Little Arts Park!

 

The Strand Center for the Arts will be set up on their front lawn from Noon-4:00PM. Experience live demonstrations as The Strand Center for the Arts transforms their front lawn into a hub of creativity and inspiration. Engage in the art of wheel throwing, stone carving, and pit firing, while also witnessing captivating paper-doll fantasy puppets.

 

Kids Zone

The Lake City Arts Fest is family-friendly, and young visitors will be treated to a dedicated Kids Zone brought to you by Hudson Headwaters Health Network with activities hosted by the Plattsburgh Public Library. Kids can unleash their creativity through fun and educational art activities, ensuring a day of entertainment and inspiration for the whole family. The Kids Zone is located in the Betty Little Arts park and is open Noon-4pm. 

 

Local Food and  Event Information

Beyond the arts and music, attendees can enjoy a variety of food and drinks offered by local downtown restaurants and food trucks. This event is free and open to the public. Restrooms will be available for public use in the Arnie Pavone Parking lot. Event attendees are encouraged to park in the Arnie Pavone Parking lot or walk and bike to the event.
