On July 15, 2021, at approximately 8:00 pm, Plattsburgh Police were called to an O’Connell Way residence for a report of a burglary in progress. When responding officers arrived, they observed two males attempting to flee the residence on foot. Police quickly apprehended both men, who were later identified as Ryan Corse (27) of Plattsburgh and John Hunt (21) of Peasleville. At the time of arrest, Hunt was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm while Corse was found to be in possession of a BB gun, simulated to look like a Glock Pistol.
It is alleged Hunt and Corse went to the O’Connell Way residence where they forcibly entered the apartment and assaulted a male victim. It is also alleged the two men caused significant damage to property inside the residence and then forcibly stole the victim’s wallet before fleeing to avoid arrest.
Both suspects were charged with the following offenses:
Burglary in the 1st Degree (Class B Felony)
Robbery in the 1st Degree (Class B Felony)
Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree (Class D Felony)
Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (Class C Felony)
Assault in the 2nd Degree (Class D Felony)
Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor)
Both men were arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court on Friday and remanded to the Clinton County Jail.
The victim was treated at the University of Vermont Healthcare Network CVPH for injuries he sustained during the incident.
