“City Police Arrest Two for Downtown Assault”

During the early morning hours of 10/22/2017, City Police were called to Bridge Street in the vicinity of the Green Room for a report of an altercation involving several people outside the bar. Upon their arrival, Officers located an unconscious male with an apparent head injury, lying in the street. Witnesses reported seeing the victim punched in the head by two males who then fled the area on foot. The Victim was transported by ambulance to UVM CVPH Medical Center and ultimately transferred to UVM Medical Center in Burlington VT due to a fractured skull. During their investigation, City Police obtained video evidence from surveillance cameras and witnesses which helped identify the suspects. On 10/23/2017, Nicholas Sallemi (21) of Broad St. in Plattsburgh and Luis Cardenas (21) also of Broad Street in Plattsburgh were arrested and each charged with one count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony. Both suspects were arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court on Monday and released to the pre-trial release program.
The Victim was listed in stable condition on Tuesday Morning at UVM Medical Center.
