On January 27th, 2017 the Plattsburgh Police Department celebrated the 35th Academy Session. Ten officers graduated the Zone 9 Academy. The ceremony was held at Plattsburgh City Hall. Elected officials, Training Officers from various departments, and loved ones gathered together to celebrate the occasion.
This graduating class included officers from seven agencies, including the Plattsburgh Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff, SUNY Plattsburgh University Police, St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police, SUNY Potsdam University Police, Franklin County Sheriff and Malone Village Police.
Special guest speakers City of Plattsburgh Mayor Colin Read, Plattsburgh Police Department Captain Michael Branch and Warren County Sheriff Department Lt. Steve Stockdale, congratulated the new officers on a job well done and urged them to always be safe. Officer Kristopher Minogue was selected by his peers to act as the Class Speaker. These ten recruits have now joined the honorable ranks of officers across the country, that have pledged to protect and to serve.
In addition to honoring all graduates from the 35th Academy session of Basic School, Academy Director Ron Santor also presented special accomplishment awards. The Best Overall Academic award was presented to Ryan Robinson of the SUNY Potsdam Police Department. The Best Overall Physical Fitness award was presented to Conor Cooley of the Clinton County Sheriff. The All-Around Achievement Award was presented to Conor Cooley of the Clinton County Sheriff. Donna Savage, retired NYSP Trooper, received the Special Achievement Award for obtaining her School Resource officer status, demonstrating class leadership and successful completion of Basic Academy.
